// Photography by 'Focus' is as much a way of living as it is an obsession with light, a sense of kinship with the aesthetic, and a recognition of the power of suggestion, constantly fuelled by the need to capture what you cannot see.
Behind the lens is Fabrice Bourgelle-Pyres, an energetic, colourful and devoted photographer with an eclectic background and a multi-faceted set of interests. Born in London to a French mother and a Goan Father, 'Focus' has lived and traveled various parts of the world, carrying with him a passion for Music, a curiosity for Art, and an affinity with the written word, as well as an ever growing love for Film. It is these elements combined that are embodied in his Photographic expression, fuelling a constant strife to create something different.
Following a love for music, his core work has led to a concrete amount of experience within the industry, providing a variety of work for artists on labels such as Ninja Tunes, The Leaf and Tru Thoughts amongst others. With the understanding and the ability to work closely with artists, he has also provided the chance to document events, tours and video shoots, including acts such as Quantic, Fink and ZedBias.
Never leaving the camera aside, Focus has also accumulated travel photography from a range of countries, and is currently set to release three photographic essays based on life in and out of Bombay's slums.
As well as social ducumentary, Focus has continued to push his own personal work forward, leading to a variety of collaborations with choreographers, directors, designers and stylists alike, not to mention also being open to photographing and documenting varying kinds of events.
